The 2003 LLLI Conference in San Francisco was a smashing success, with around 3,000 attendees (mothers, fathers, and children). The weather was beautiful in the city, and the hotel staff was wonderful to us. Start saving and raising funds NOW to join us in Washington, DC, USA for the 2005 LLLI Conference.

You can see highlights on our photo page at:

A fascinating new book on breastfeeding during pregnancy and tandem nursing available from LLLI now.

ADVENTURES IN TANDEM NURSING: BREASTFEEDING DURING PREGNANCY AND BEYOND, by Hilary Flower, supports breastfeeding mothers with wisdom and gentle respect. Flower combines clear explanations of the available research on the safety of breastfeeding during a healthy pregnancy with personal stories and observations from many experienced mothers, including Norma Jane Bumgarner, author of LLLI's classic book MOTHERING YOUR NURSING TODDLER. Peggy O'Mara, author of the Foreword, says, "Every page delights me!" Insight-filled illustrations by Beth Hannon point out the humorous side of continuing to breastfeed during a pregnancy and/or becoming a "tandem mama."
(No. 1379-12, $14.95, softcover, 325 pages.)

5. LLLI-LI means La Leche League International Leaders with *Initiative*!

Have you, or someone you know in LLL, used your initiative to help mothers and babies and LLL in your part of the world? Let's share the good news! It might be a new way of doing your usual LLL work, or it might be something different. LLLI Board wants to hear about it, and may publish stories on the web or in other ways. You may write about your own work, or another Leader or other LLL volunteer. If you write about your friend/colleague, please ask her/his permission first. Please write a short account of what you did and how it worked, and send it to:

Rachel O'Leary, LLLI Board member

There is no deadline for this - it will be an ongoing project. Please include a brief mention of how you communicate with LLL about this activity. Your stories may be edited for LLL publication. Editors of LLL newsletters are invited to send stories they have published relevant to this topic, with the author's permission. Please include your own mailing address and email address if available. If you are writing about somebody else, please include their name and address as well. When you send your contribution to the Board, you are granting copyright to LLLI.

August 1-7 is when many parts of the world celebrate World Breastfeeding Week. Let sak at know your walk plans.
