1. NEW ON THE LLLI WEB SITE

*The LLLI home page has a new look, intended to make it more convenient to find LLL in the many locations around the world we can be found. We also have created a beautiful new entry page for our Spanish content that coordinates with our main entry page, since many Spanish-speaking parents enter our site there. Check them out!

http://www.lalecheleague.org/LangEspanol.html

*LLLI issued a press release updating the status of the US National Breastfeeding Awareness Campaign. The theme is "Babies Were Born to Be Breastfed" and it will start in the spring. Read more here: http://www.lalecheleague.org/Release/AdCouncil.html

*Nominations are open for 2005 LLLI Awards, to be presented at the 2005 LLLI Conference in Washington, DC, USA. Deadline is March 1, so nominate soon! http://www.lalecheleague.org/05conf/awardnomination.html

*New information on World Breastfeeding Week activities in the USA for 2004 has been added to the World Walk for Breastfeeding web pages. The US celebration is being sponsored for the first time by LLLUSA. There is a LOT going on and from the planning stages, it looks like there will be many activities to choose from! http://www.lalecheleague.org/walk.html

*Our online meeting coordinators are working now to set up "chats" in Spanish. Look in your next OnLLLine Chronicle for details! For more on online LLL meetings, visit http://www.lalecheleague.org/chat/chat.html

*If you are looking for an LLL Group in your vicinity to attend, don't forget to visit our index of local LLL Group Web pages. A whopping 29 new US Groups have been listed in the past month in California, Colorado, Iowa, Missouri New York, Pennsylvania, Washington, and Wisconsin -- maybe one is near you! LLL of Florida and the English Speaking Islands also have a new site that will soon list all Groups in that Area. And La Leche League of Portugal has returned and now has its own site again! To find all these, look at our collection of local LLL Web pages: http://www.lalecheleague.org/WebIndex.html.

2. THANKS FROM OUR FUNDING TEAM

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!! We appreciate very much the overwhelming number of donations to LLLI that have been received in 2003 and 2004. We ask all donors to understand that the acknowledgement process has been delayed for a variety of reasons, and we are working to send these letters out as soon as possible. Every donor will receive a letter, and we appreciate your patience in this matter. Please accept our apologies! If you have any specific questions, contact Pam Oselka, Associate Director of Funding Development at POselka at llli.org.

We have recently added some information on the projects your donations can be contributing to -- visit http://www.lalecheleague.org/donor/pipeline.html to learn more about many interesting ways we are helping breastfeeding mothers. And while you are there, visit our newly revised support Web page for more on joining or giving to La Leche League -- acts guaranteed to help mothers and babies everywhere! http://www.lalecheleague.org/support.html

3. LLLI ALUMNAE COUNCIL TO MEET THIS WEEK

The LLLI Alumnae Association Council will meet February 20-22 to work on goals, and strategies for achieving those goals in 2004-2005. We plan to work diligently to increase our membership among active and retired Leaders and members, to strengthen the relationship between the Alumnae Association and the LLLI Funding Development Department, to determine the role we might play outside the USA, and to re-evaluate and prioritize Alumnae special projects, including activities and services for the 2005 LLLI Conference. Please consider joining the Alumnae Association, just $8.00 for active Leaders/members and $25 for retired Leaders/members, and sharing this information, as well as our publication, CONTINUUM, with other Leaders and retired Leaders and members. Contact Pam Oselka, POselka at llli.org, for further information, or to find out how you can become a part of the exciting future of the LLLI Alumnae Association.

4. REPRESENTATIVE FROM LLLI ATTENDS HIV AND INFANT FEEDING MEETING

Jacquie Nutt, LLL Leader and Area Coordinator for LLL of South Africa, represented La Leche League International (LLLI) at the HIV and Infant Feeding Meeting, organized by the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA) and held in Lusaka Zambia from 2-6 February. As one of WABA's Core partners, LLLI was invited by WABA to participate in this special meeting to plan WABA's response to the HIV and infant feeding issue. After twodays of visits to field projects, the workshop started with presentations from the CORE partners. Jacquie's presentation emphasized LLLI's experience and background in breastfeeding peer counseling training and the development and publication of materials that support the breastfeeding woman. Following the presentations, the meeting participants (25) divided into groups to work on action plans.
