Are you wearing your purple bracelet to help encourage, support and protect breastfeeding?

Lansinoh has partnered with La Leche League International on The Breastfeeding Protection Initiative (tm) because LLLI is the leading provider of comprehensive information on breastfeeding rights. All profits on sale of the bracelets will go to help LLLI. June 30, 2005 marks the date of the first sale. Almost $16,000 has been raised by the initiative.

The bracelets can be purchased at Many local La Leche League Groups also have a supply available for purchase.

Wear the bracelet yourself or give it to a new mother to show that you respect her important decision to breastfeed her baby. A new mother can also use the bracelet to help her remember which side she nursed on at the last feeding.

Have you heard about the La Leche League International 50th Anniversary Fundraising parties? House party fundraisers are a new idea but perfectly suited to our organization—we love getting together, we enjoy sharing food, and we are comfortable in each other's homes. Even if you have never considered hosting a fundraising event, you will find that it is an easy and fun way to support LLLI and help us reach more mothers and babies. You can hold your party any day or time but you may want to schedule it to coincide with our special conference calls with the Founders. The next conference call will be with Marian Tompson on Saturday, September 24, 2005, at 10:00 AM Central Daylight Time. If this date and time does not work for you, don't worry—we are planning 4 more parties with the Founders in the next 10-12 months, moving toward the LLLI 50th Anniversary in summer 2006.

While volunteers do much of LLLI work, many LLLI programs need financial support such as the Center for Breastfeeding Information, the Peer Counselor Program, and the 800 Helpline. We need your help to ensure that LLLI will be here to support our daughters and granddaughters as they enter into motherhood.

Our goal for the 50th Anniversary Fund is to raise $500,000 by 2007 in order to ensure that LLLI basic programs and services continue well into the next 50 years. We encourage all Leaders, members, and friends of LLLI to tour the party site at and host or attend a party, or just check out photos from parties held earlier this year.

The LLLI Alumnae Association would like to thank all those LLLI Conference attendees who visited the "Alum Fun! Room" to participate in the Founders Parlor, purchase tickets for the Donation Drawing, enjoy the rejuvenation sessions, (from the musical jam session to the Yoga and Pilates) purchase for sale items, or just relax and converse with friends. We appreciate the approximately 40 volunteers each day who assisted with our many activities, all those who attended the "Now This" event, those 62 women who purchased an Alumnae membership, and the 700 Conference participants who attended the Founders' Tea. Thanks to all! Please contact Pam Oselka, POselka at, to find out how you can be involved with future projects of the LLLI Alumnae Association.

The International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms Casey Ward Goldberg as the new IBLCE Executive Director from the 25th July 2005 following JoAnne Scott's resignation in March 2005 due to ill health.
