6. LLL EASTERN US DIVISION DIRECTOR ANNOUNCEMENT
On behalf on Hedy Nuriel, Executive Director for La Leche League, and myself, it is a pleasure to announce the appointment of Amy Shaw as the new Director for the Eastern United States Division. Amy is a dynamic individual with long experience as an LLLI administrator. She has experience with the international aspect of LLL through her work in the LAD and on LAD Council. She has been a valuable member of the Division Staff and Division Council. She is the choice of the Leaders of the EUS Division as evidenced by their vote.
Amy's term will begin April 1, 2006. I will begin copying posts to her as we transition responsibilities.
As I prepare to leave the Director's position in such capable hands, let me express my thanks to all of you for helping to make my five years as Director such memorable ones. I have learned from each of you and feel I have many friends among you. You have given me strength when my husband's health was so poor and rejoiced in the joys of his improved health, marriages of sons, and births of grandchildren. I will miss our work together in this capacity.
My plans at the moment are to continue to serve the EUS as the interim Division Publications Administrator. Time will tell if this is a good fit for me. Who knows what else will lie in the future beyond the Group that I lead. I know that La Leche League - and each of you - will always be a part of what I do and who I am. Thank you all for the time, energy, passion and love you share with LLL.
I know you will enjoy working with Amy as the Director of the EUS.

8. MAY IS FOR MOTHERS!
Celebrate your mother, mothers in your community, or mothers around the world with a special House Party on May 7th! Founder Mary Ann Cahill will join House Party celebrations in a special conference call as we raise funds for the 50th Anniversary Fund for La Leche League International. The $500,000 we plan to raise will help ensure that La Leche League is here to help mothers in the years and decades to come.
Parties may be hosted by mothers, Leaders, physicians, community members and anyone who wishes to ensure that La Leche League International continues to reach out around the world with breastfeeding and parenting information and support. Your party can be as simple as coffee and pastries with friends or as elaborate as a five course meal for retired and former Leaders! The choice is yours!
Much more information on organizing a House Party is available at http://www.partyhostcenter.com/lalecheleague/. If you have specific questions, please send them to Meg Sondey, House Party Coordinator, at firstname.lastname@example.org .
