Short Stories from Around the World: Breastfeeding Support Group in Manila
From: LEAVEN, Vol. 36 No. 6, December 2000-January 2001, p. 116
I have a really rewarding experience when I attend the "breastfeeding support group" at St. Luke's hospital in Manila. It takes me about three hours to travel there and back but it is good to talk to the mothers and mothers-to-be. We have a few fathers attend, too. They are all looking for help. Altogether there may be about 30 attendees at the meeting. It is not a regular Series Meeting but we introduce a topic, share information, and answer or discuss different questions. Usually these mothers are just there once although some do come again and again. We're working on doing something different for these mothers.
These meetings are inspiring and I am glad to be able to assist these mothers and help them find their own solutions to their breastfeeding concerns.
