Media Release: La Leche League International to Offer Lactation Specialist Workshop Series

Low Tech Concepts in High Tech Lactation Management, the La Leche League International Lactation Specialist Workshop Series XI, will offer the latest information on assisting breastfeeding mothers and their infants at eight locations around the United States in April and October 1996.
Dr. Susan Ludington, CNM, PhD, author of the Bantam book How to Have A Smarter Baby and a recognized international leader in research and application of strategies to enhance early infant development will present, "Kangaroo Care: Newest Research in USA" and "Infant Stimulation, How? Why? & When?"
Chele Marmet, BS, MA, IBCLC; Director of the Lactation Institute; Coordinator of the UCLA Clinical Lactation Program -Department of Pediatrics and Adjunct Faculty at Pacific Oaks College, Pasadena, California will present "Cup Feeding Controversy" and "Case Presentation."
Both Dr. Ludington and Ms. Marmet are recognized international experts in their fields. Dr. Ludington, who is currently an Associate Professor of Nursing a the University of California at Los Angeles School of Nursing and the Director of the UCLA/UCI Nurse Midwifery Masters Program, is a recognized international leader in research and application of strategies to enhance early infant development.
Ms. Marmet, who created the first training program and first degree programs specifically for lactation consultants and served on the original International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE) Representative Panel of Experts and is a founder and past member off the Board of Directors of the International Lactation Consultant Association (ILCA), was identified in 1983 as an Internal Expert in breastfeeding. She is a La Leche League Leader of 21 years, an author and frequently lectures internationally.
