2002 La Leche League International World Walk Logo Winner Selected

Schaumburg, IL (November, 2001) The votes are in and the winning logo design for La Leche League International's (LLLI's) 2002 World Walk for Breastfeeding has been selected. Congratulations to David Brent Lee, Senior Art Director/Associate Creative Director for the Robin Shepherd Group, who has won with his unique design of a globe and LLLI's logo enclosed within a foot. Votes were cast to choose from a variety of beautiful logo entries over the website, at the 2001 La Leche League International Conference, and at the LLLI office in Schaumburg.

David Lee said that he heard about the logo contest from his sister Melissa Wolfersberger, who is an LLL Leader in Jacksonville, Florida. Lee is the proud father of 13-month-old twins, Davis and Sydnie. He states that his sister helped his wife Tammy with information and support about breastfeeding after the twins were born.

In coming up with his design, Lee says that he looked at past logos and in his design utilized the right side of his brain to capture the idea of La Leche League International and the Walk. He also wanted a logo design that would easily lend itself to being used on hats, shirts and other Walk products.

World Breastfeeding Week is celebrated every year from August 1 through August 7 by La Leche League International and the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action. It is part of an ongoing campaign to raise public awareness of the importance of breastfeeding.

Walks are held worldwide from approximately May 15 until September 15. The purpose of the Walk is not only to call attention to the importance of breastfeeding, but to raise money so that the important work of educating and supporting mothers and babies can continue.
